This book, Sound It Out, Baloo, is the second book in the series called Sound It Out! It is part of Character Ink Press’ Book-Movie-Book line up of readers, coloring books, and composition/writing books.
Sound It Out, Baloo is a reader and a story book in one whimsical book. For the reader portion, each two page spread has a student text that an emerging reader can read. The student text is vocabulary-controlled for new readers to be able to read silently or orally.
The “parent” portion is also contained in each two page spread with more challenging text that can be read aloud to the child. The parent text is longer and more in depth, resulting in a fun book to share together.
This reader introduces and describes the characters from Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book series, including the man cub Mowgli; his loveable friends Baloo (the bear) and Bagheera (the panther); the “villains” (Shere Khan, Kaa the snake, and the ornery monkeys); and more.
The pictures are delightful, and the text is engaging for children of all ages.
